Three individuals have been taken into custody following separate incidents related to the unlawful possession of methamphetamine. Assistant Commissioner of Police Crime, Mesake Waqa, confirmed the arrests were made on Thursday and Friday in various locations, including Votualevu, Grantham Road in Raiwaqa, and Belo Street in Samabula.

The first arrest occurred on New Year’s Day along Grantham Road, where a 30-year-old man from Nanuku Settlement was apprehended. During the search, authorities discovered several zip lock bags containing a white substance suspected to be methamphetamine, along with smoking devices, dried leaves presumed to be marijuana, and cash believed to be proceeds from illicit activities.

In the second incident, a 25-year-old man in Votualevu was arrested after police found clear plastic bags containing white substances resembling methamphetamine.

The third arrest involved a 37-year-old man from Makoi on January 2, who was found in possession of a zip lock bag containing a similar white substance.

All suspects are currently in police custody while the seized substances undergo analysis. ACP Waqa emphasized that the investigations into these drug-related offenses will also consider the proceeds of crime and any unexplained wealth linked to the suspects. This effort is part of a broader initiative directed by Commissioner of Police Rusiate Tudravu, aimed at dismantling the drug trade and eliminating profits that adversely affect innocent members of the community.

These arrests reflect ongoing measures to combat drug-related crime and ensure the safety and wellbeing of the public.
