During a recent friendly match in Puerto Rico, Argentina’s captain Lionel Messi found himself in an unexpected situation when a pitch invader tackled him to the ground. The incident occurred late in the game against Independiente del Valle, shortly after Messi was substituted in at halftime.

With only two minutes left in regular time, a spectator grabbed Messi around the waist while he was taking a selfie with another fan. This resulted in a chaotic scene as security quickly intervened to manage the situation, with Messi, the invading fan, and a security guard briefly falling to the ground during the struggle. Fortunately, Messi seemed to be unharmed and later moved back to the other side of the pitch as additional security arrived.

Despite the disruption, Messi made a mark on the match by scoring from the penalty spot, contributing to Inter Miami’s 2-1 victory. Santiago Morales also added a goal for Miami, who recently experienced a tough 3-0 loss against LAFC in their Major League Soccer opener. Looking ahead, the team, co-owned by David Beckham, is set to face their state rivals, Orlando City, on Monday, aiming for a stronger showing in their upcoming match. This encounter highlights both the challenges and excitement surrounding MLS as they navigate through the season.
