Nuffield Health Center in Tamavua has partially closed following the confirmation of a case of meningococcal disease. This information was reported by a reliable source to Fiji One News.

In response to the situation, the hospital has cordoned off its Emergency Room and the waiting area of the General Outpatient Department. Patients seeking outpatient care have been temporarily relocated to the Special Outpatient Department to ensure safety and proper organization of the affected areas.

Earlier in the day, the hospital closed its gates to facilitate the necessary preparations and containment measures. Medical staff are currently working on setting up an isolation room at the Colonial War Memorial Hospital. A patient is anticipated to be transferred there for further assessment and treatment.

This proactive approach highlights the health center’s commitment to ensuring the safety of patients and staff while addressing the serious health concern presented by meningococcal disease. As the situation develops, it is important for the community to stay informed and follow any directives from health authorities.
