Two men have been taken into custody after they were allegedly found in possession of illicit drugs in Nabua. Assistant Commissioner of Police – Operations Livai Driu stated that a man contacted the Samabula Police Station early yesterday morning to provide information about the two men.

A police officer accompanied the individual to Mead Road, where backup was called. With the assistance of two other officers, the two men, who are in their 20s, were arrested and taken into custody. ACP Driu said substances believed to be methamphetamine were seized and sent for analysis.

He praised the individual for coming forward, noting that each seizure and arrest contributes to reducing the supply and harm of illicit drugs.

In other drug-related operations, the Cakau Operations team uprooted plants believed to be marijuana from the Tacilevu area. Investigations are ongoing regarding the owner of the farm.

Additionally, ACP Driu reported that two men in their 20s were arrested in Labasa Town for the unlawful possession of marijuana. In the Western Division, arrests for alleged unlawful possession of illicit drugs were also made in Ba, Sigatoka, Lautoka, Nadi, and Namaka. Cash believed to be proceeds of crime was also seized.

ACP Driu emphasized that community support is crucial for the success of police operations, and awareness efforts are leading to a notable increase in community support for curbing the illicit drug trade through the sharing of information.
