Meli Tuni, a prop forward for the Fijian Drua, has faced a challenging 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific season, having only played a brief 22 minutes due to injuries. However, the 24-year-old from Tailevu finds strength and motivation in his family, who have been his steadfast support during this tough time.

“Family is most important; seeing them being there and supporting gives me more time to actually focus on coming back,” Tuni expressed. This family connection has inspired his determination to return to the sport he loves.

Despite the setbacks this season, Tuni’s spirits are high following his debut with the Flying Fijians. He is eager to secure more playing time in the future. “I want to play more games next season,” he stated, emphasizing his commitment to both his professional development and personal growth. “I also want to be a better person than I have been; there are a lot of things in the past I could have changed, and next year that is one of the main goals.”

Tuni’s journey illustrates resilience and the power of a strong support system, showing that even during difficult times, there’s potential for growth and a positive outlook for the future. With a clear focus on improving himself both as a player and personally, he is on a hopeful path for the upcoming season.
