Meli Tuni, the prop forward for Fijian Drua, has faced significant challenges this season, having only played 22 minutes of rugby in the 2024 Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific due to injury issues. Despite this setback, the 24-year-old from Tailevu draws strength and motivation from his family. Tuni emphasized the importance of family support in his journey back to full fitness, stating, “Family is most important; seeing them being there and supporting gives me more time to actually focus on coming back.”

Tuni recently celebrated a personal milestone by making his debut for the Flying Fijians and is determined to build on this success. Looking forward, he expressed a strong desire to play more games in the upcoming season and to work on self-improvement. “I also want to be a better person than I have been; there are a lot of things in the past I could have changed, and next year that is one of the main goals,” he shared.

This story highlights not only Tuni’s resilience in the face of adversity but also the crucial role family plays in motivating athletes through tough times. With his commitment to both his sport and personal growth, there’s a sense of optimism about his future contributions to the Fijian rugby scene. Fans can look forward to witnessing Tuni’s continued development and hopefully a more injury-free, impactful season ahead.
