The annual Melbourne Cup event held at the Heineken House in Denarau has successfully raised funds to support the ‘Run to Give’ initiative. Neeraj Chadha, the Multi-Property Vice President for Fiji and Samoa at Marriott International, and General Manager of the Westin and Sheraton Resorts Fiji Complex, highlighted the event’s objective of creating a festive atmosphere while engaging the community for a worthy cause.
Chadha noted that this year’s fundraising will benefit Markets for Change, a UNICEF program that saw participation from hotels across Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. The program previously amassed over $30,000, and this event serves as another opportunity to contribute further.
He emphasized the impact of these funds on women entrepreneurs striving to grow their small businesses, showcasing the importance of community support in their entrepreneurial journeys.
The Melbourne Cup festivities brought together more than a hundred attendees, including tourists and local community members, all eager to enjoy good food, drinks, and entertainment, while taking part in charitable efforts. The event was filled with fun activities, including a painting auction and a performance by the Vou Dance group.
Supporters such as Heineken, Lanson, and DGRC contributed to the event’s success, making it a memorable occasion for all involved.
This initiative not only fosters community spirit but also positively impacts local entrepreneurs, making it a promising example of how events can serve dual purposes – entertainment and charity.
In summary, the Melbourne Cup at the Heineken House in Denarau not only offered a fun day for attendees but also raised significant funds for a valuable cause, showcasing the power of community engagement and support for local businesses.
