Rowena Acraman, a 22-year-old student and former journalist, has been announced as the first contestant for the 2024 Miss Hibiscus. Known for her diverse talents and advocacy work, Rowena is fluent in English, Hindi, and Japanese, showcasing her passion for learning and cultural exchange.
Her educational path began at St. Anne’s Primary School, followed by studies at Jai Narayan College, and currently at the University of the South Pacific. In addition to her academic accomplishments, Rowena is also an enthusiastic artist, singer, and musician, with skills in playing both the guitar and ukulele.
Rowena aims to work with a non-governmental organization (NGO) focused on promoting human rights and tackling climate change, demonstrating her commitment to making a significant impact in the world. She is supported by Apco Coatings, a prominent company in the paint and coatings industry in the South Pacific since 1977.
The 68th Hibiscus Festival will be held at the Suva Civic Foreshore and Suva Civic Centre from August 31 to September 7. This year’s event is backed by FMF and Vodafone as Gold Sponsors, promising a week filled with cultural activities, entertainment, and a celebration of beauty and talent.
