Meet Nancy Tikoisuva: Fiji’s New DPP Pioneer

Nancy Tikoisuva has been appointed as the Acting Director for Public Prosecutions (DPP). She received her official appointment letter from President Ratu Willame Katonivere yesterday.

Ms. Tikoisuva acknowledged receiving the notification at around 3:30 PM, following the departure of John Rabuku from the office on Wednesday.

“My appointment comes at a time when there have been significant changes in the leadership for the office,” Ms. Tikoisuva said. “Our focus is to maintain the momentum on the strategic directions decided in the office, and I am grateful that the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) has chosen to make the appointment internally. I have a supportive team backing me.”

Ms. Tikoisuva is experienced in leadership roles, having served as acting assistant director under Mr. Rabuku’s tenure. A distinguished lawyer by profession, she has worked with the Toganivalu Legal law firm, served as an External Academic at the University of the South Pacific (USP), and consulted with the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO).

With over 18 years of experience, Ms. Tikoisuva graduated from USP in 2003 and earned her Masters in Law in 2022.

“I am the second local female, the third female in the history of the DPP’s office, and the first iTaukei female to hold this role,” she said.

Her message to her female colleagues: “Don’t give up, don’t be discouraged by bureaucracy, let your work speak for itself.”
