Reflecting on his journey, Chan acknowledged the challenges he faced during the COVID-19 pandemic, particularly being separated from his family. He expressed deep gratitude for the support he received from his family, schoolmates, and especially from his mentors, including Dr. Ifereimi Waqainabete. Chan emphasized the importance of encouragement, stating, “Their words of encouragement and support played a big part in my achievement.”

Remarkably surprised by receiving multiple awards, Chan attributed his success to his determination and the steadfast support from his parents, whom he considers his key mentors. He believes that the recognition he received will open numerous opportunities for him in the medical field.

Chan’s story serves as an inspiring reminder of the power of support and perseverance in overcoming challenges, especially during trying times. His achievements reflect not only his hard work but also the invaluable role of a supportive community in fostering success.

In summary, Tony Chan’s accomplishments at the University of Fiji demonstrate the impact of resilience and the encouragement from loved ones, paving the way for a bright future in medicine.
