The Ministry of Employment has organized a mediation session involving the Fiji Roads Authority (FRA) and the Construction Energy and Timber Workers Union of Fiji (CETWUF). Minister for Employment Agni Deo Singh announced that both parties have agreed to participate in the mediation, which will be conducted by the ministry’s mediation team.

“The FRA staff union has been in contact with our ministry. Both the workers and employers have agreed to attend the mediation session scheduled for next Wednesday,” Mr. Singh stated. The meeting aims to address concerns that arose after over 100 FRA workers voted in favor of a strike.

“This is our way of facilitating dialogue and negotiations through the ministry,” he added. The workers, represented by CETWUF, are seeking a salary increase and cost-of-living adjustments that have remained unchanged since 2017. They have voiced their dissatisfaction with management’s failure to address the union’s demands.
