McDonald’s Fiji has announced a new partnership with the Kaiviti Silktails Rugby League Football Club, elevating its commitment to fostering a brighter future for the youth in Fiji. As the Platinum Sleeve Sponsor for the upcoming 2025 season, McDonald’s Fiji is investing $75,000 into community initiatives aimed at empowering young Fijians through sports and personal development.

The partnership was formally unveiled during a contract signing and jersey presentation at McDonald’s Fiji’s headquarters in Nadi. CEO Marc McElrath expressed that this collaboration symbolizes a shared vision to provide opportunities through sport, highlighting the company’s dedication to nurturing life skills and education in addition to athletic talent.

“Building pathways for our youth is not just about rugby, but also about life,” McElrath remarked, emphasizing the role of this support in youth development programs. This initiative will also include skill-building workshops, community outreach, and post-match meals aimed at fostering discipline, teamwork, and personal growth.

Club chairman and founder Petero Civoniceva celebrated the historic nature of this partnership, marking it as the first of its kind in Fijian rugby league history. Civoniceva noted that this sponsorship is pivotal for the development of junior rugby league across Fiji as the Silktails approach their fifth operational year.

This collaboration aims to introduce rugby league to younger generations, instilling values and opportunities into the Silktails’ Elite Development Pathway Programme. McDonald’s Fiji’s support will facilitate grassroots coaching clinics in schools, promoting not just the sport but also essential life skills among the Fijian youth.

Overall, this partnership between McDonald’s Fiji and the Kaiviti Silktails highlights the continued investment in sports as a vehicle for community engagement and youth empowerment, showcasing a hopeful outlook for the future of Fijian rugby and its players.
