Mbappe’s Injury: Will He Miss the Derby?

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe has sustained a muscle injury, the LaLiga club announced on Wednesday, raising concerns about his availability for the upcoming derby against Atletico Madrid this weekend.

Mbappe, who joined Real Madrid from Paris Saint-Germain earlier this year, has been impressive this season, netting seven goals in nine matches across all competitions. He was replaced in the 80th minute during Tuesday’s 3-2 victory over Deportivo Alaves in LaLiga and indicated an issue with his thigh as he exited the field.

In a statement, Real Madrid confirmed that following examinations by their medical team, Mbappe was diagnosed with an injury to the biceps femoris in his left leg. The club stated that his recovery will be monitored closely.

Spanish reports suggest that Mbappe is expected to miss Sunday’s clash against Atletico.

Currently, Real Madrid sits second in the LaLiga standings with 17 points, trailing Barcelona by one point, although Barcelona has a game in hand and is set to face second-bottom Getafe later on Wednesday.
