Cloudy periods and scattered showers are expected across much of the eastern and central island groups, while the rest of Fiji will generally be fine apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers. Moderate to fresh southeast winds will be gusty at times, and seas will be rough, making conditions choppy for small craft.
Cloudy periods with some showers are forecast for Serua-Namosi, Navua-Suva-Nausori, Tailevu-Naitasiri-Ra, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby isles. Isolated afternoon or evening thunderstorms remain possible, particularly over the interiors of Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. In the Navua–Suva–Nausori area expect cloudy periods with some showers, a maximum around 30°C, and overnight lows near 23°C; the outlook through Sunday is for occasional showers with similar temperatures.
Western and coastal lowland areas will be mostly fine, though a few afternoon or evening showers may develop. Yasawa–Mamanuca and the Coral Coast can expect mainly fine conditions with daytime highs near 31°C and night minima around 23°C. Nadi, Lautoka and Ba should see mostly fine weather apart from brief evening showers, with a daytime maximum near 32°C and an outlook that includes possible afternoon or evening thunderstorms on Sunday. Tavua, Rakiraki and Labasa are also expected to be largely fine during the day, though isolated thunderstorms may occur; Labasa’s top temperature is forecast near 33°C.
Looking ahead to Sunday, occasional showers are likely to persist over the same eastern and central districts named above. Elsewhere conditions will be partly cloudy with the chance of afternoon or evening showers. Isolated thunderstorms and locally heavy falls are possible over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu; these heavier downpours may produce localised flash flooding in flood-prone locations, so residents in low-lying or flood-prone areas should remain aware of rapidly changing conditions.
Rotuma remains under the influence of a trough of low pressure, with occasional showers and isolated thunderstorms expected. Southeasterly winds will be moderate to fresh there, seas moderate to rough, and temperatures in the mid-to-low 30s by day with overnight lows around 24°C. Mariners should take care in the rougher seas and heed local advisories.
