The community of Matailobau in Naitasiri is set to receive a grant of $34,600 for developmental projects in their village. The announcement was made by the Minister for Rural Development, Heritage and Arts, Ifereimi Vasu, who emphasized the importance of community engagement in enhancing local infrastructure through initiatives like the Village Improvement Scheme.
Minister Vasu praised local residents for their commitment to the development projects, underscoring their role in making significant improvements in their area. The upgrades will include the construction of community shelters, water supply systems, and classrooms, as well as the installation of solar power systems to ensure a reliable energy source.
He further encouraged the community to take pride in these developments and to maintain the facilities that are set to improve their daily lives. The Matailobau village is one of over 30 communities benefiting from government support for rural development initiatives.
Additionally, Ratu Inoke Takiveikata, the village chief, highlighted the responsibility of community members to enhance the quality of life in their area, as they work towards better relationships and improved conditions for their families.
