Manasa Mataele, the former Flying Fijians winger, is poised to make his Super Rugby Pacific debut with the Gallagher Chiefs this Saturday in a highly anticipated match against the Brumbies. Mataele is set to play on the blindside wing, while Emoni Narawa will take the opposite wing in jersey number 14.

This debut is particularly significant for Mataele as he joins the Chiefs’ lineup, having previously played for the Crusaders and Western Force. Chiefs head coach Clayton McMillan has voiced his confidence in Mataele’s abilities, highlighting his outstanding performance during the pre-season, which has contributed to a strong start to the season for the Chiefs.

Also returning to the squad is All Blacks hooker Samisoni Taukei’aho, who has recovered from an eight-month injury and will begin the match on the bench. The Chiefs will be led by lock forward Tupou Vaa’i in this match, set to kick off at FMG Stadium in Hamilton at 3:35 PM on Saturday.

The Brumbies will also see the emergence of young talent, with Judah Saumaisue, a former loose forward for the Fiji Under-20 team, named on the bench, showcasing the depth of skill on both sides.

This match presents a vital opportunity for Mataele to demonstrate his talents to local fans, while also allowing the Chiefs to strive for an unbeaten season. The return of key players alongside the fresh inclusion of talents like Mataele emphasizes the Chiefs’ commitment to building a competitive squad, fostering an optimistic atmosphere as the season continues.
