A fire erupted early this morning on Grantham Road in Raiwaqa, originating from the Rups warehouse and subsequently spreading to the Raiwaqa bus garage around 12:30 AM. Authorities have been working on-site to control the blaze, with footage shared on social media showing the emergency response in action.

The National Fire Authority (NFA) was present for over four hours, successfully containing the fire by 4 AM. An official statement from the NFA regarding the incident is still pending.

This incident comes on the heels of heightened awareness about fire safety in the region, following a series of residential fires that have prompted the NFA to urge homeowners to remain vigilant. Recently, a spate of fires has resulted in significant damages and raised concerns among local authorities, emphasizing the need for community engagement and proactive safety measures.

The NFA has been enhancing its Integrated Community Fire Wardens and Emergency Response Framework, a free training program designed to equip residents with knowledge of firefighting techniques, prevention strategies, and emergency response skills. This initiative aims to reduce the occurrence of such fires and increase safety awareness in affected communities.

As investigations continue into today’s fire, this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety awareness. Community members are encouraged to take preventive measures and support one another in maintaining a safe environment.
