Authorities have confiscated over 2,000 plants suspected to be marijuana during two separate raids in the Malua range in Navosa. The Western Division Serious Organised Crime Intelligence Department (SOCID) initiated these operations based on intelligence regarding the cultivation of illegal cannabis.
Assistant Commissioner of Police Operations, Livai Driu, highlighted the importance of these seizures, emphasizing that they are crucial in disrupting the marijuana supply chain. He noted that several arrests have occurred recently, with suspects charged and brought before the courts. ACP Driu commended the community for sharing information that facilitated both the recent action and earlier successful operations.
In the first raid, officers discovered more than 1,800 plants at one farm, while over 900 plants, varying in height from 10 centimeters to 2.5 meters, were found at another site.
This concerted effort by law enforcement can serve as a deterrent against drug cultivation and trafficking, fostering a safer community and demonstrating that public cooperation can effectively aid police activities. With continued community involvement and vigilance, there is hope for progress in combating drug-related issues in the region.
