Mark Evans, the chief executive of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, has put an end to rumors about star centre Iosefo Masi’s future with the team. He confirmed that the Olympic gold and silver medal winner will continue to play for the Fijian Drua during the 2025 season.
Speculation arose when French media suggested that Masi was a potential replacement for Semi Radradra at Lyon, a Top 14 club looking for a new player as Radradra is expected to leave mid-season, possibly heading to Japan. However, Evans reassured fans, stating, “He (Masi) is happily contracted with the Fijian Drua and will stay with the club in the 2025 season of Super Rugby Pacific.”
Evans also emphasized the importance of relying on credible information, urging fans to be cautious about unverified news circulated on social media.
Currently, Masi is back in training after recovering from a knee injury, which had previously sidelined him, including during the Flying Fijians’ tour of Europe.
This optimistic news surrounding Masi’s commitment to the Drua not only secures the team’s talent but also offers fans a sense of stability as they look forward to the upcoming season.
