Mark Evans, the chief executive of Swire Shipping Fijian Drua, has dispelled rumors surrounding star player Iosefo Masi. He confirmed that the accomplished Olympic gold and silver medalist will indeed remain with the Fijian Drua for the 2025 Super Rugby Pacific season.
Recent reports from French media had suggested that Masi was a potential recruit for Lyon, a Top 14 club looking to fill the gap left by Semi Radradra, who is set to leave mid-season for a Japanese club. However, Evans reassured fans, stating, “He (Masi) is happily contracted with the Fijian Drua and will stay with the club in the 2025 season of Super Rugby Pacific.”
Evans also emphasized the importance of discerning accurate information, advising fans to be cautious about social media claims and to rely on trusted news outlets and the official Drua communications for accurate updates regarding the team.
In more positive news, Masi has returned to training after recovering from a knee injury that had sidelined him, causing him to miss the Flying Fijians’ recent tour of Europe. This marks a welcome return for Masi as he looks to make his mark in the upcoming season.
This confirmation not only brings relief to the Drua supporters but also showcases the club’s commitment to retaining key talents as they prepare for future competitions.
