Mary Fowler: Twice the Charm as Young Women’s Footballer of the Year!

Mary Fowler has been awarded the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, following a vote by PFA members who recognized her as the standout player among a competitive shortlist that included her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey. This achievement marks the second time Fowler has received this esteemed accolade, which honors Australian players under the age of 23 for their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. She previously won the award in 2022.

Fowler is among only a few players, including Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter, to win the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year on two occasions. The 21-year-old showcased her talent both domestically and on the international stage, featuring prominently in six of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and playing a crucial role in Australia’s Olympic qualifying campaign.

At the club level, Fowler made significant contributions to Manchester City in the English Women’s Super League, netting four goals and providing six assists as City secured a second-place finish in the league.
