Mary Fowler has been awarded the title of 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, following a vote by PFA members who recognized her exceptional performances among a competitive shortlist that included her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey.
This achievement marks the second time Fowler has received this esteemed accolade, which honors Australian players under the age of 23 for their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. Fowler previously won the award in 2022.
With this latest recognition, Fowler joins Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter as the only players to have won the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year award twice.
At 21 years old, Fowler displayed remarkable talent both domestically and internationally, playing a crucial role in six out of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and contributing significantly to Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.
At the club level, Fowler thrived in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, where she recorded four goals and six assists, helping City secure a second-place finish in the league.
