Mary Fowler has been awarded the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, as determined by PFA members who recognized her as the standout player among a competitive shortlist that included her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey.
This achievement marks Fowler’s second time winning this esteemed honor, which is presented to Australian players under 23 based on their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. She previously received the award in 2022.
Fowler joins Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter as the only players to have won the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year twice.
At just 21 years old, Fowler showcased remarkable talent both domestically and on the international stage, playing a key role in six out of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and significantly contributing to Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.
On the club front, Fowler had a standout season in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, achieving four goals and six assists as her team secured a second-place finish in the league.
