Mary Fowler has been awarded the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, selected by PFA members as the top performer from a strong group of nominees that included her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey.
This recognition marks Fowler’s second time winning the esteemed award, which honors Australian football players under the age of 23 based on their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. She previously won the accolade in 2022.
Fowler becomes one of only three players, alongside Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter, to win the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year award twice.
At just 21 years old, Fowler showcased her talent both domestically and on the international stage. She played a significant role in six out of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was instrumental in Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.
On the club front, Fowler had a standout season in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, where she recorded four goals and six assists, helping the team secure a second-place finish in the league.
