Mary Fowler Shines Again: Young Women’s Footballer of the Year 2024!

Mary Fowler has been awarded the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, as determined by a vote from PFA members. She was recognized for her outstanding performances amidst strong competition from her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey.

This achievement marks Fowler’s second time receiving this esteemed honor, which is designated for Australian players under the age of 23 and is based on performances between June 2023 and June 2024. She previously won the award in 2022.

With this latest accolade, Fowler becomes one of only three players, along with Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter, to have received the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year award twice.

The 21-year-old displayed remarkable talent on both domestic and international stages, playing a crucial role in six of the seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, and significantly contributing to Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.

At the club level, Fowler shone in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, where she recorded four goals and six assists, helping her team secure a second-place finish in the league.
