Mary Fowler Shines Again: Wins 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year

Mary Fowler has been awarded the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, following a vote by PFA members who recognized her as the top performer among a competitive shortlist that included her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey.

This achievement marks Fowler’s second time winning this esteemed award, which honors Australian players under 23 based on their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. She previously won the accolade in 2022.

Fowler now joins the ranks of Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter as the only players to win the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year twice.

At just 21 years old, she delivered outstanding performances both on the domestic and international stages, featuring in six out of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and playing a crucial role in Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.

On the club front, Fowler was a standout player in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, where she recorded four goals and six assists, helping City secure a second-place finish in the league.
