Mary Fowler Shines Again: 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year!

Mary Fowler has been recognized as the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, having been selected by PFA members as the leading performer from a robust shortlist that featured her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey.

This achievement marks Fowler’s second time receiving this esteemed award, which honors Australian players under the age of 23 based on their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. She was previously awarded this honor in 2022.

Fowler now joins Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter as the only players to win the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year title twice.

At just 21 years old, Fowler displayed remarkable talent both at the domestic level and internationally. She played a key role in six of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was instrumental in Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.

On the club front, she shone in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, contributing four goals and six assists as the team secured a second-place finish in the league.
