Mary Fowler has been awarded the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, as voted by PFA members. She stood out among a competitive shortlist that included her Manchester City teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey.
This marks Fowler’s second time receiving this prestigious accolade, which honors Australian players under the age of 23 for their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. She previously won the award in 2022.
Fowler is now one of only three players, alongside Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter, to have won the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year title twice.
At 21 years old, she showcased her talents both in domestic and international competitions. She played a crucial role in six of the seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and was instrumental in Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.
On the club front, Fowler thrived in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, netting four goals and providing six assists, helping the team to a second-place finish in the league.
