Mary Fowler has been awarded the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, as voted by the members of PFA. She stood out among a notable shortlist that included her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey. This is the second time Fowler has received this prestigious honor, which highlights the achievements of Australian players under 23 years old, based on their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. Fowler had previously won the award in 2022.
With this achievement, Fowler joins Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter as the only players to have won the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year title twice. The 21-year-old showcased remarkable talent both on the domestic and international stages, featuring prominently in six out of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and playing a crucial role in Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.
At the club level, Fowler shone in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, where she recorded four goals and six assists, contributing significantly to City’s second-place finish in the league.
