Mary Fowler has been awarded the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, a title determined by PFA members who recognized her as the standout player among a competitive shortlist that included her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey.
This achievement marks Fowler’s second time receiving this esteemed award, which honors Australian players under the age of 23 for their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. She previously won the accolade in 2022.
With this latest recognition, Fowler joins the ranks of Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter as the only players to have won the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year twice.
At just 21 years old, Fowler has delivered remarkable performances both at the domestic and international levels. She shone in six out of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and played a crucial role in Australia’s Olympic qualifying campaign.
On the club front, Fowler had an impressive run in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, where she made significant contributions, scoring four goals and providing six assists, helping City secure a second-place finish in the league.
