Mary Fowler has been recognized as the 2024 Young Women’s Footballer of the Year, as voted by PFA members, standing out among a competitive shortlist that featured her teammates Kyra Cooney-Cross, Charlotte Grant, and Kaitlyn Torpey. This achievement marks Fowler’s second time winning the esteemed award, which honors Australian players under the age of 23 for their performances from June 2023 to June 2024. She had previously received the accolade in 2022.
With this latest honor, Fowler joins the ranks of Alex Chidiac and Ellie Carpenter as the only players to win the Young Women’s Footballer of the Year twice. The 21-year-old showcased remarkable talent both domestically and internationally, playing a key role in six out of seven matches for the CommBank Matildas during the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup and contributing significantly to Australia’s Olympic qualifying efforts.
At the club level, Fowler thrived in the English Women’s Super League with Manchester City, where she recorded four goals and six assists, helping the team secure a second-place finish in the league.
