MARRIOTT International recently hosted a global customer appreciation event, showcasing the company’s ongoing expansion and commitment to community engagement, while celebrating record-breaking performances in various regions. The event took place at the Sheraton Fiji Golf Resort and Spa in Nadi, where Neeraj Chadha, Area General Manager and Vice President for the Pacific Islands, discussed Marriott’s hospitality philosophy and rapid global growth.

Chadha emphasized the importance of hotels serving as gathering places and the company’s dedication to stylish and generous hospitality. “We strive to host with a servant’s heart,” he stated, underscoring Marriott’s belief that connecting with communities is a core value. He highlighted that Marriott is opening a new hotel approximately every 14 hours, with a presence in 143 countries, 30 brands, and a Bonvoy member base of 260 million.

The company’s ongoing sustainability efforts were also a focal point, particularly through its Serve360 program, which aims to enhance community engagement and partner with NGOs. Recent achievements in sustainability include environmental audits for two major properties, Sheraton and Marriott Momi Bay, both of which received silver certification from Earth Check.

Chadha shared that Marriott is committed to local agricultural initiatives, mentioning that their farm now yields over 1,600 kilograms of fruits, vegetables, and herbs. In addition, they have harvested their first production of honey, totaling about 70 liters.

Expressing gratitude for government support, Chadha also discussed plans for future recruitment, hoping to provide another 100 scholarships in the coming months to prepare local talent for positions at the upcoming Westin Hotel. The Fiji Marriott Training Academy has already facilitated employment for approximately 320 associates, demonstrating Marriott’s investment in local workforce development.

The event not only highlighted Marriott’s achievements but also reinforced its commitment to sustainability and community support, positioning the company favorably within the hospitality sector as it continues to grow and connect with its global audience.
