Marist Brothers High School under-17 head coach Jonetani Rika expressed confidence as his team prepares for the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Vodafone Super Deans finals this weekend. The Marist team will be competing against the formidable Ratu Kadavulevu School in the U17 final.
Marist secured their place in the final by narrowly defeating Queen Victoria School 17-15 in the semi-finals last weekend. Rika noted the advantage of having previously played a warm-up match against RKS, saying, “We are not going in blind.”
He emphasized the importance of both physical and mental readiness for the game, stating that regardless of past accolades, the team that is best prepared will succeed. “I know they are a good team, but we can just work on ourselves and what we can do,” he added.
Supporting Rika is Fijiana 7s head coach Saiasi Fuli, who motivated the players with encouraging advice after their semi-final victory.
The highly anticipated match against Ratu Kadavulevu School is scheduled for Saturday at 12:50 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
