Marist Old Boys Edge Out Sharks in Heart-Stopping Quarter-Final!

MARIST Old Boys (OB) team delivered an outstanding performance, narrowly defeating the Draunivau Sharks 13-10 in the FMF Suva Rugby Union Koroturaga quarter-final held at Bidesi grounds in Suva yesterday.

The match was fiercely contested, with both teams exchanging points throughout the game. Ultimately, Marist secured the win by a slim margin.

Assistant coach Tadeo Vulaca commended the team’s resilience, recognizing the significant challenge presented by the Draunivau Sharks.

This victory was particularly meaningful as it was dedicated to the late Belasio Vukiwai, with players and officials donning black armbands in his memory, along with that of Tevita Waqa and other teammates who were lost earlier in the season.

“Preparation coming into the competition went very well. This year, we had two teams, one in the Escott and one in the Koroturaga, and our main goal was to secure both trophies. Our Escott team is currently advancing, and we aim to reclaim the Koroturaga title for Flagstaff this year,” stated Vulaca.

In other match results, Covenant Red triumphed over Army Red 26-12, while Suva Stallions fell to Nabua White with a score of 23-24.
