Marist Old Boys Edge Out Draunivau Sharks in Thrilling Quarter-Final Showdown

The Marist Old Boys (OB) team showcased an outstanding performance, winning 13-10 against the Draunivau Sharks in the FMF Suva Rugby Union Koroturaga quarter-final held at Bidesi grounds in Suva yesterday.

The match was fiercely competitive, with both teams exchanging points throughout. In the end, Marist secured their win by a slim margin.

Assistant coach Tadeo Vulaca commended the players for their perseverance, acknowledging the challenges presented by the Draunivau Sharks.

This victory was dedicated to the late Belasio Vukiwai, with players and officials donning black armbands to pay tribute. They also honored Tevita Waqa and other players lost earlier in the season.

“Preparation leading into the competition went very well. This year we had two teams, one in the Escott and one in the Koroturaga. Our main goal was to secure both trophies since our Escott team is already in the finals, and we aim to bring the Koroturaga trophy back to Flagstaff this year,” noted Vulaca.

In other matches, Covenant Red triumphed over Army Red with a score of 26-12, while Suva Stallions faced a narrow defeat against Nabua White, losing 23-24.
