The Marist Old Boys team showcased impressive skill in their 13-10 victory over the Draunivau Sharks during the FMF Suva Rugby Union Koroturaga quarter-final at Bidesi grounds in Suva.
The match was fiercely competitive, with both teams trading points throughout the game. Marist ultimately secured the win by a slim margin.
Assistant coach Tadeo Vulaca commended the team’s resilience, recognizing the significant challenge posed by the Sharks.
In a touching tribute, the victory was dedicated to the late Belasio Vukiwai. Players and officials wore black armbands to honor him and remember Tevita Waqa, alongside other players lost earlier in the season.
“Preparation for the competition went very well. This year, we had two teams, one competing in the Escott and the other in the Koroturaga. Our main goal this year was to secure both trophies, and since our Escott team is progressing, we aim to reclaim the Koroturaga title for Flagstaff,” said Vulaca.
In other matches, Covenant Red triumphed over Army Red with a score of 26-12, while Suva Stallions fell to Nabua White, 23-24.
