The Marist Old Boys (OB) team showcased an outstanding performance in their 13-10 win against the Draunivau Sharks during the FMF Suva Rugby Union Koroturaga quarter-final at Bidesi grounds in Suva yesterday.
The match was tightly contested, with both teams exchanging points on the scoreboard. Marist ultimately clinched victory by a slim margin.
Assistant coach Tadeo Vulaca commended the team’s resilience and acknowledged the formidable challenge presented by the Draunivau Sharks.
The win was dedicated to the late Belasio Vukiwai, with players and officials wearing black armbands in his memory, as well as honoring Tevita Waqa and other players lost earlier in the season.
“Preparation leading up to the competition went very well. This year we fielded two teams, one in the Escott and one in the Koroturaga competitions. Our main objective was to claim both trophies. Our Escott team has progressed, and we aim to bring the Koroturaga title back to Flagstaff this year,” said Vulaca.
In other matches, Covenant Red triumphed over Army Red with a score of 26-12, while Suva Stallions narrowly lost to Nabua White, finishing the game at 23-24.
