For Marist Champagnat Institute, the annual inter-house competition transcends the realm of mere sporting events; it serves as a vibrant platform for students to express their individuality through activities they are passionate about. This specialized vocational secondary school is committed to providing inclusive education and fostering personal growth for students with learning disabilities.

According to Physical Education teacher Alice Croker, the inter-house competitions at Marist Champagnat emphasize participation over fierce competitiveness, in stark contrast to similar events in other schools. The focus here is on enjoying a variety of athletic activities and creating a joyful atmosphere.

Croker noted the abundant laughter and excitement throughout the day, with students enthusiastically engaging in more than four events each. “Yes, they had so much fun, we actually had to chase them away to have a rest before starting again but they keep on coming, either to run or jump,” she remarked.

Adding to the event’s significance, Croker expressed gratitude to parents and family members who attended at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva. Their support contributed immensely to making the day even more memorable for the students, emphasizing the vital role of community and family in nurturing a positive and inclusive environment for all.

This year’s inter-house competition not only celebrated athletic prowess but also strengthened the bonds among students and their families, fostering a spirit of unity and joy that is central to the ethos of Marist Champagnat Institute.
