Marist Brothers Unite to Support Rival Team in Rugby Spirits

The motto “I’m my brother’s keeper” unites students at Marist Brothers High School, and this spirit was showcased when they presented gear kits to the Nasinu under-18 team ahead of their semi-final match against Cuvu College.

Although the Marist team concluded its own journey in the Deans quarter-final against the reigning champions, Queen Victoria School, they chose to support the Nasinu team by donating wraps and Fiji water bottles.

Principal Asish Dayal expressed the school’s commitment to solidarity with the Nasinu first XV team, highlighting the significance of standing by one another in Southern Zone rugby. He noted that rugby transcends the game itself, encompassing support and camaraderie off the field as well.

“We are here to support our Nasinu first XV team, in solidarity as Southern Zone rugby,” Dayal stated. “While fierce rivals on the field, our journey may have ended, but we continue to support Nasinu, embodying our motto ‘I’m my brother’s keeper’. Rugby is not just about on-field action, but off-field support too.”

He extended best wishes to the Nasinu team as they prepare for their important match. In response, Navitalai Waiwalu, the vice principal of Nasinu Secondary, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Marist Brothers High School for their generous contributions. He acknowledged the donation as a meaningful show of support from their fellow rugby teammates.
