Marist Brothers High School’s under-17 head coach Jonetani Rika expressed confidence ahead of the Fiji Secondary Schools Rugby Union Vodafone Super Deans finals this weekend. The team, known as the Kaunikuila boys, is set to compete against the highly regarded Ratu Kadavulevu School.
Marist secured their place in the final by narrowly defeating Queen Victoria School with a score of 17-15 in the semi-finals. Rika indicated that the team is well-prepared, having already faced RKS in a warm-up match. “We are not going in blind,” he stated, highlighting their readiness for the challenge.
He emphasized that success on game day will hinge on which team arrives better prepared both physically and mentally. “I know they are a good team, but we can just work on ourselves and what we can do,” Rika added.
Assisting Rika is Fijiana 7s head coach Saiasi Fuli, who has provided valuable advice to the players following their recent victory. The final match against Ratu Kadavulevu School is scheduled for Saturday at 12:50 PM at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva.
