Marist Brothers High School’s athletics program is receiving significant backing from its community as it prepares for the upcoming Coca-Cola Games. The school’s athletics coach, Antonio Raboiliku, has acknowledged the robust support from the Marist Old Boys Association and other alumni, which plays a crucial role in motivating the athletes.

Raboiliku expressed gratitude toward the community, stating, “The boys always know the weight on their shoulders when they go out and participate. It’s about the Marist family… that red vest represents more than just one person.” This sense of unity and representation is particularly vital as the athletes face the pressure of defending their title at the national championships.

The school’s supporters are expected to turn out in full force at the HFC Bank Stadium, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with school colors and camaraderie, which can uplift the spirits of the athletes. Historical involvement of alumni at major events like the Deans competition emphasizes the deep-rooted culture of support within Marist, fostering not just competition but also a sense of belonging.

With Marist competing as the defending champions in the boys’ division, the team anticipates strong challenges from notable rivals, including Suva Grammar School, Queen Victoria School, and Natabua High School. This year’s competition is expected to be thrilling, with hope that the hard work and preparation of the Marist athletes will pay off, inspiring future generations of athletes in Fiji.

The community’s commitment to supporting the athletes reinforces a collective spirit of togetherness and encourages young talents, highlighting the significance of sports in nurturing both personal and athletic development among the youth.
