Marist 7s: Where Legends Rise and Future Stars Shine!

Only 20 out of the 64 men’s teams that participated in the Fiji Bitter Nawaka 7s last week in Nadi will continue to compete this week at the Fiji Bitter Marist 7s in Suva. Among these teams are top contenders such as Viti Roofing Devo Babas, BLK Lavidi Brothers, Wardens Gold, and Police Blue, all of whom are highly placed in the recent series standings.

The Marist 7s will also see participation from teams like Bula Bay Blue, DXC Army Green, and Mana Magicians. A notable highlight of this year’s tournament is the introduction of the Pacific Energy Future Super Stars under-18 Boys competition, which was not featured in the previous legs of the Fiji Bitter 7s series. Additionally, the tournament will also have a Future Super Stars U18 Girls category, also sponsored by Pacific Energy.

Scheduled to run from Thursday to Saturday at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva, the Marist 7s marks the final leg of the Fiji Bitter 7s series. The Viti Roofing Devo Babas recently clinched the men’s cup title at the Nawaka 7s, securing $10,000 in prize money, demonstrating their strong form as they head into the Marist tournament. Last year’s defending champion, Army Green, will also be vying for the title after their impressive victory over DXC Barbarians in the main Cup final.

As the rugby community gears up for this event, there is palpable excitement over the potential for exhilarating matches showcasing both established talent and emerging players, highlighting Fiji’s rich rugby culture and fostering community spirit. The anticipation leading to the Marist 7s reflects a hopeful outlook for the sport, as teams aim to elevate their standings and thrill fans with fierce competition.
