Marijuana Bust: Three Arrested in Major Drug Raid

Three individuals have been taken into police custody following a raid that uncovered sachets of dried leaves, suspected to be marijuana, concealed in aluminum foil. According to a police statement, two of the suspects were apprehended on Sunday afternoon, while the third was arrested the following day.

The police, along with the Fiji Dog Detector Unit (FDDU), conducted the raid at a residence located in Tamole Settlement, New Town. During the operation, a 56-year-old unemployed man and a 23-year-old car wash attendant willingly surrendered the illicit drugs, which amounted to 117 sachets.

The third suspect, a 53-year-old casual worker from Newtown Settlement, was also taken into custody after dried leaves, thought to be marijuana, were found in his home. Similar to the first two, he voluntarily handed over a portion of the discovered substance. All three men remain in police custody as investigations are ongoing.

This incident highlights ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat drug-related activities within the community. The swift actions taken by the police and the cooperation of the individuals involved reflect a proactive approach to addressing substance abuse and enhancing public safety.
