A southeast wind flow remains across Fiji, bringing a mix of sun and brief showers for many areas. The strong wind warning that had been in force for the Yasawa and Taveuni groups, Lau and Lomaiviti groups, Kadavu and nearby smaller islands, and the coastal areas of Rakiraki and Udu Point has now been cancelled. Overall conditions are settled for most places, though pockets of shower activity are expected and seas remain choppy in places.
Through to midnight tomorrow, expect partly cloudy skies with brief showers over Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra, southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, and across the Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu groups. Elsewhere the weather will be generally fine apart from isolated afternoon or evening showers. Winds are forecast to be moderate to fresh southeasterlies and seas moderate to rough, so marine conditions will be less settled than onshore weather suggests.
Looking ahead to Wednesday, cloudy periods with some showers are likely to continue across the same eastern and island areas, including eastern Macuata. Viti Levu and Vanua Levu should watch for the possibility of afternoon thunderstorms, while most other districts will see mainly fine conditions with the chance of afternoon or evening showers. Daytime temperatures will generally be in the low 30s Celsius, with overnight lows in the low to mid‑20s; the Yasawa and Mamanuca group will be marginally cooler with daytime highs around 30–31°C.
Rotuma is affected by a trough of low pressure and should expect occasional showers with isolated thunderstorms, moderate easterly winds and moderate seas. Temperatures there are around the low 30s by day with nights in the mid‑20s.
With moderate to fresh southeasterlies and moderate to rough seas, boat operators and beachgoers should exercise caution, and anyone planning outdoor activities should be prepared for brief showers and the chance of thunderstorms in the afternoons.
