A southeasterly wind flow will dominate the Fiji group into the weekend, bringing cloudy periods and showers to many eastern and interior areas while leaving most western coasts relatively fine apart from the chance of afternoon or evening rain. Afternoon thunderstorms are likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Winds are expected to be moderate to fresh from the southeast, with seas moderate to rough.
Cloudy periods with some showers are forecast for Serua‑Namosi, Navua‑Suva‑Nausori, Tailevu‑Naitasiri‑Ra‑Rakiraki, southern Bua, Cakaudrove, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands, the Lau and Lomaiviti groups, and Kadavu and adjacent islets. Elsewhere conditions should be generally fine, though many places can still expect afternoon or evening showers and isolated storms. The outlook for Sunday remains much the same, with showers across the same eastern and interior districts and afternoon thunderstorms again possible over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu; eastern Macuata is also included in the Sunday advisory.
Local forecasts: Navua, Suva and Nausori will see cloudy periods with some showers and likely afternoon or evening thunderstorms — tomorrow’s temperatures around 24°C to 32°C, with Sunday’s outlook noting thunderstorms with heavy falls likely. Natadradave and Korovou have a similar forecast, with thunderstorms likely tomorrow and heavy falls expected on Sunday (min 24°C, max 32°C). Sigatoka and the Coral Coast, and the Nadi–Lautoka–Ba area, are expected to be fine apart from afternoon or evening showers with thunderstorms possible; Nadi, Lautoka and Ba will see temperatures near 23°C to 33°C.
Northern and outlying centres will also see unsettled periods. Tavua and Rakiraki can expect cloudier conditions with showers over Rakiraki and afternoon thunderstorms (min 23–24°C, max 33°C). Yasawa and the Mamanuca Islands should remain mostly fine apart from late showers (25–32°C). Labasa, Savusavu, Nabouwalu and Taveuni should expect cloudy periods with showers and likely afternoon or evening thunderstorms, with temperatures generally in the low to mid 20s for minimums and around 32–34°C maximums. The Lau and Lomaiviti groups and Kadavu will have cloudy periods with some showers; Sunday may bring afternoon thunderstorms to these island groups.
Rotuma is affected by a trough of low pressure and associated cloud and showers. Occasional showers with isolated thunderstorms are likely, with moderate northeasterly winds and moderate seas. Temperatures on Rotuma are forecast near 25°C to 32°C tomorrow, easing slightly on Sunday to a maximum around 30°C. Mariners and those planning outdoor activities should note the moderate to fresh southeasterlies and the moderate to rough sea state, and allow for sudden showers or thunderstorms when travelling or working offshore.
