A trough of low pressure is affecting the Fiji group with associated cloud and showers, while a moist northeast wind flow persists across the islands. The unsettled pattern will ease later today, but showers and a risk of heavy afternoon or evening thunderstorms will continue in several areas through tomorrow and into the outlook for Sunday.

Today many parts of Viti Levu and the northern and eastern islands will see cloudy periods with some showers—this includes Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, Rakiraki–Tavua–Ba, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti, the Yasawa and Mamanuca groups, and Kadavu. Elsewhere conditions will be partly cloudy with afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms, with some heavy falls possible. Localised heavy falls may lead to flash flooding in low‑lying and flood‑prone areas. Winds are expected to be moderate from the northeast and seas moderate.

Tomorrow the focus of cloud and showers shifts to Serua–Namosi, Navua–Suva–Nausori, Tailevu–Naitasiri–Ra, eastern Macuata, Cakaudrove, southern Bua, Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu, while most other areas should be fine apart from the usual afternoon or evening showers. Afternoon and evening thunderstorms with heavy falls are likely over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Winds are expected to be moderate and easterly and seas moderate.

The outlook for Sunday remains similar: cloudy periods with some showers in the same eastern and northern districts, with the remainder of the country fine apart from afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms over Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. People in low‑lying and flood‑prone locations should remain alert to the possibility of flash flooding during any heavy downpours. Boaters and those planning sea travel should note that seas are forecast to be moderate generally.

Temperatures across the main centres will be warm. For Navua/Suva/Nausori expect about 25–32°C, Nadi/Lautoka/Ba about 24–33°C, Sigatoka/Coral Coast around 24–32°C, Tavua/Rakiraki about 25–32°C, and Labasa around 25–33°C. Taveuni, Lau, Lomaiviti and Kadavu can expect lows near 25°C and highs near 31°C. Rotuma continues to be affected by the trough with cloudy periods, showers and isolated thunderstorms with heavy falls, moderate to fresh easterly winds and moderate to rough seas; temperatures there are near 25–31°C.
