Samisoni Mara emerged as the standout performer during the Ba Golf Club’s closing ceremony for the 2024 season, which took place at the FSC Golf Club on Sunday evening. A resident of Line 25 in the FSC compound adjacent to the golf course, Mara took full advantage of his location to enhance his golfing abilities, resulting in a series of impressive achievements throughout the season.
Mara clinched the monthly medal titles for July and September, won the B Grade category for the season, and secured the silver medal in the Gold Rush competition. He also excelled in the nearest-to-the-pin challenge.
In reflecting on his accomplishments, Mara expressed his gratitude and optimism for future competitions, stating, “I want to thank God for this award, and for me, it’s easy living beside the golf course, as practicing is an advantage for me. Next year, I will come out stronger and better prepared.”
The season closing event, sponsored by Amins Insurance Services and New India Assurance, showcased remarkable performances from participants. The Magic Breakers team triumphed with a score of 53, featuring players Anaya Saanvi, Prakrit Naidu, Divnesh Goundar, and Asish Chand. The second place was claimed by the Blues team who finished with a score of 54, comprised of Joeli Dakunimata, Ashwin Sharma, Sanjay Sharma, and Sunil Sharma. The Amin Insurance team rounded out the top three with a score of 55, including members Indra Warjan, Smita Warjan, Jyoti Lal, and Has Raj Parmar.
In individual accolades, Asish Chand was declared the winner of the A Grade championship with Ashwin Sharma as the runner-up. Samisoni Mara led the B Grade category, surpassing Brendan Daniel, while Prakrit Naidu was victorious in C Grade.
For the coveted Gold Rush competition, Rohit Chandra took home the gold medal, followed by Mara with silver and Raven Kumar securing the bronze. Throughout the year, Mara’s impressive performance was underscored by his victories in the July and September monthly medal competitions, with Raven Kumar, Damon Chen, and Rohit Chandra winning in June, August, and October, respectively.
Additionally, professional golfer Lotawa Delana was honored with the longest drive award.
This season’s closing ceremony not only celebrated individual and team achievements but also set positive expectations for the upcoming season, showcasing the burgeoning talent within the golf community.
