Samisoni Mara made a significant impact at the Ba Golf Club’s 2024 season closing ceremony, which took place at the FSC Golf Club on Sunday evening. The golf enthusiast from Kadavu, who lives close to the course, utilized his convenient location to enhance his skills throughout the season.
Mara excelled by winning the monthly medal titles for July and September, and he emerged as the winner in the B Grade category for the season. He also earned a silver medal in the Gold Rush competition and received recognition for the nearest to the pin challenge.
Expressing his appreciation for his achievements, Mara said, “I want to thank God for this award. Living beside the golf course makes practicing much easier for me. Next year I will come out stronger and better prepared.” His determination for future improvement is commendable.
The closing ceremony, sponsored by Amins Insurance Services and New India Assurance, celebrated impressive performances from all participants. The Magic Breakers team took home the championship title with a score of 53. They were closely followed by the Blues team, who scored 54, with the Amin Insurance team finishing third with 55.
In individual championships, Asish Chand was recognized as the A Grade winner, while Mara triumphed in the B Grade category over Brendan Daniel. Prakrit Naidu took the C Grade title. Additionally, in the Gold Rush competition, Rohit Chandra clinched the gold medal, with Mara winning silver and Raven Kumar receiving bronze.
Mara’s remarkable accomplishments this year, particularly in the monthly medal contests of July and September, showcased his talent and dedication. Other monthly winners included Raven Kumar, Damon Chen, and Rohit Chandra, highlighting the competitive spirit of the club.
Professional golfer Lotawa Delana was acknowledged for the longest drive, adding to the evening’s celebrations.
