Sireli Maqala, the Bayonne center and a member of the Flying Fijians rugby team, is making headlines as he currently leads the try-scorers chart in the prestigious French Top 14 league. The talented player, who also earned a gold medal with the Fiji rugby sevens team at the 2021 Olympics, has impressively scored nine tries this season.

Maqala’s performance has outshone Lyon scrum-half Baptiste Couilloud, who follows with eight tries. Notably, Maqala stands out as the only Fijian player in the top 10 try-scorers list, showcasing his exceptional talent on an international platform.

In addition to Maqala’s individual success, Bayonne is holding strong in the league standings, currently sitting in fourth place with 34 points. The French Top 14 leaderboard is headed by Bordeaux with 41 points, while Toulouse also shares the same total but has a slightly lower point difference. Toulon occupies the third position with 37 points.

This development in Maqala’s career not only highlights his impressive skills but also symbolizes the bright future of Fijian rugby talent in competitive leagues worldwide. As the season progresses, fans can look forward to more thrilling matches and further achievements from Maqala and his team.
