Member of Parliament and former Deputy Prime Minister Manoa Kamikamica’s application for a permanent stay is set to be heard in the Suva High Court next Wednesday. This development follows a recent court appearance where he faced serious charges.
Represented by Senior Lawyer Wylie Clarke from Howards Lawyers, Kamikamica is facing allegations from the Fiji Independent Commission Against Corruption (FICAC). He is charged with one count of perjury and one count of providing false information to a public servant.
The charges stem from accusations that between December 1, 2024, and March 31, 2025, in Suva, Kamikamica knowingly made a false statement under oath. He allegedly claimed to have no involvement in the appointment of the FICAC Commissioner, a claim that is cited in the charges against him. Additionally, it is alleged that he conveyed the same falsehood to the Commissioner of Inquiry.
The proceedings in the Magistrate’s Court have been postponed, with a new date set for January 29 of the following year. This ongoing legal battle underscores the serious nature of the allegations facing Kamikamica and the implications it may have on his political career and public life moving forward.
